A Race To The Finish Line
Three wins for Dave Adamson and
two each from Dave Lloyd and Gordon Shaw gave Cirencester
a resounding 8-2 win against second placed Rudford. This was
Cirencester's first win in five matches and may have put a stop to
Rudford's title aspirations.
Cheltenham C leapfrogged Rudford into second place and put themselves within striking distance of Smiths A with two games to go before the end of the season. Their 10-0 win over Smiths C gave maximums to John Atkinson and Harry and Laurence Shahlaei. Craig Hayward who has been in good form recently took both Harry and Laurence to five before eventually losing.
Saracens A claimed a good win against reigning Champions Smiths A. Brian McRandal took all his singles and with Suzy Robinson and Tony Stead picking up wins against Matt Hartwell and Mark Bilsborrow respectively, plus the doubles, Sara's just edged home 6-4 winners. Nick Mytton was Smiths best player with two wins.
Cheltenham B carried their unbeaten run to five matches with an 8-2 victory against a two man Chelsea B.S.. Junior Milan Dragojlovic was again in commanding form as he won two sets, coming from two games down to beat Simon Moysey in five, and beating Guy Greening in four.
Even without Dave Harvey, Cheltenham A were still too good for Smiths B and ran out 8-2 winners. Mike and Robert Harvey both had maximums and was ably assisted by their uncle, Alan, playing up from Division 2, who secured another two points.

Terry is Simmering for Sara's
Tewkesbury A returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 6-4
victory over Cheltenham E. Rob Amphlett claimed a
maximum for Tewkesbury, winning all his games in four sets.
Christine Williams was the pick of Cheltenham’s players,
comfortably beating John Goodchild and Mike Tyrrell in
straight sets. Goodchild enjoyed a five-set win over the improving
Siben Li, whilst Tyrrell emerged victorious in a tight
five-setter with Andy Dyke. Amphlett and Tyrrell kept up their recent
form in the doubles with a straight sets win over Dyke and
Williams.
Smiths D overcame Cheltenham F 6-4 thanks to an excellent maximum from Julie Taylor. She was well supported by Mike Gleeson who won twice. Matt Mulcahy put in the best performance for Cheltenham, winning twice and just losing out in five sets to Taylor. Mulcahy combined with Alan Harvey to win a crucial doubles which reduced the deficit.
Cheltenham D and Saracens B fought out an entertaining 5-5 draw. John Gaskell continued his rich vein of form for Cheltenham, claiming a maximum, although he had to come from 2-0 down to beat Terry Sims. Mike Dodwell and Sims both performed excellently for Saracens, winning twice each. Sims did not drop a set in defeating Mike Fry and Dave Green and similarly, Dodwell was untroubled. Fry’s miserable night was completed as Ross Greening picked up an excellent win over him. The Gaskell/Green doubles combination was far too strong for Sims and Greening and their straight sets win salvaged a draw for Cheltenham.
Saracens C cruised to an 8-2 win over Tirley Tigers, although they met some defiance along the way. Martin Cosnette and Tony Walsh were rarely troubled as they claimed three wins apiece. Dave Cosnette, however, could only win once, and was defeated in five sets by both Janie Kirby and Elaine Evans. Kirby and Lesley Dewick could not secure a further point in a rather one-sided doubles encounter.
Winchcombe Wizards swept to an 8-2 win over Saracens D. Maximums for Nick Davidson and Chris Lane secured the win. Tony Iles and Mark Nally won once each for Saracens, both beating Jacqui Carver in straight sets. In a straightforward doubles win, Davidson and Lane beat Iles and Nally 11-7, 11-7, 11-7.
CCS A completed a convincing 9-1 win over a weakened Winchcombe Warriors thanks to maximums from Steve Murton and Phil King. Dave McIntosh offered the only resistance for the Warriors, condemning the in-form David Hart to a straight sets defeat. John Teare and the promoted Tiffany Hopton were outplayed in all of their matches. Murton and King completed the rout with a straight sets victory over McIntosh and Teare in the doubles.

gained a comfortable 10-0 win over Cheltenham H, although
Pete McGeough was taken to five games before overcoming Zak France.
Tewkesbury B lost a little ground to Saracens at the top, conceding two sets to their C team in an 8-2 victory. For Tewkesbury C, it was Alan Cook who caused problems, beating Pete Newdeck and Alison Lockley, both sets going to five games. Alan lost out to Wayne Lippett, but this one also went to five games.
Carey Maisey steered Cheltenham K to two 7-3 victories, recording a maximum in each fixture. They beat Cheltenham M, for whom Ariston Hicks won two sets, and then overcame Cheltenham L. In this match, all six players secured at least one win each, the closest being between Ben Meikle and Emma Mollison, which Emma won in five games.
The meeting of the third and fourth placed sides was expected to be close, and Winchcombe Eagles edged through 6-4 against CCS B. Tiffany Hopton was in good form for Eagles, winning all three of her sets, whilst Roland Holder and Derek Brown chipped in with one win each. Eagles clinched the match by winning a five game doubles.
Cheltenham G won the mid-table clash against Cheltenham J 7-3, and had Chris Foster to thank for winning all three of his sets. For Cheltenham J, James Bird took Chris and Sean Whitelow to five games but lost out in both.
