Cirencester clinch runners up spot
Bottom club Winchcombe Wizards
put in a terrific performance to beat Cheltenham A and gain their
third win of the season. Six of the ten sets went to five games, and the
Wizards just scraped home 6-4 on the doubles. Nick Davidson and
Chris Lane both won two each for them, and Laurence Shahlaei and
Paul Perks two each for Cheltenham A.
Cirencester virtually clinched runners-up spot with a good 8-2 win over a weakened Saracens B team. Dave Adamson was on top form for them to claim a maximum. Michael Harvey won both Sara's sets.
Smiths A romped home 8-2 winners against a two man Chelsea B.S. with a maximum from Nick Mytton. Only Guy Greening offered any resistance, claiming both of Chelsea's sets.
Winchcombe Cavaliers were gifted three sets by a two man Saracens A team, but still lost 6-4. Roy Fowler did the damage for Sara's with three wins.

Division Two
Smiths B secure title with 40 points to spare
Smiths B secured the Division Two title this week with an emphatic 10-0
win against bottom placed Saracens C. Andy Richards, Andy East
and Ken Smith showed no mercy to their visitors as they registered the
whitewash. Smiths B are well out in front of the pack with a 40
point gap!
Saracens D fought
bravely but were just beaten by Cheltenham B by 6 sets to 4. The
win keeps Cheltenham B in the promotion stakes and was aided by 2
wins apiece from Mike Fry and Jon Gaskill with 1 set also from
Dave Green. Saracens D responded with a maximum from Mike
Dodwell and 1 set from Dennis Wadley with the possibility of a draw
if Saracens could win the doubles. This was not to be the case however, as
Cheltenham managed to win in the fifth game of the set and therefore
secured the match.
Smiths C showed no mercy towards their club mates Smiths D
and comprehensively beat them by 9 sets to 1. Both Chris White and
Barrie Pope claimed maximums and were assisted by Paul Singh who won
2 sets but was unable to contain an attacking Chris Williams who gained
the only point for her team who were also unable to take the doubles, and
consequently seemed destined for relegation, whereas Smiths C have
every chance of gaining promotion providing other results go in their favour.

Tewkesbury lift Division Three title!
The Division Three title is now well and truly in
the hands of Tewkesbury A after an emphatic 9-1 win over their
nearest rivals Saracens E. Rob Amphlett and John
Goodchild both claimed maximums and Mike Tyrrell chipped in with a
brace. Neil Penny picked up Saracens solitary point, and
Tony Iles was defeated in all three games for the first time this season.
Amphlett combined with Tyrrell to take the doubles in straight sets.
Tirley Tigers maintained the pressure at the top with an 8-2
victory over an understrength Winchcombe CCC. Indeed,
Winchcombe were only able to field one player! However, John Teare
still managed to claim a brace of wins, whilst Pete Humble was victorious
for Tirley.
CCS B started well against Cheltenham D, leading 2-1
at an early stage of the match. However, they were to only win one more game as
they were defeated 7-3. Alan Harvey was the pick of the players for
Cheltenham, picking up yet another maximum, although he was pushed
all the way by Phil King in a tight encounter. Matt Mulcahy won
two games whilst King did the same for CCS B.
