Division One
Smiths Climb To Top
Smiths A powered themselves well clear at the top of division one with a 10-0 whitewash over Winchcombe Cavaliers. The match was far from easy however, with Graham Brown taking Nick Mytton to five and just losing 11-9 in the fifth against Dave White (with one game going to 21-19). Darrell Wiltshire also came agonisingly close to beating Dave White again just losing in the fifth 11-9.

Saracens A continued their surge up the table with a comfortable 9-1 win against Cheltenham B, with both Brian McRandal and Pete Wood unbeaten. Dominic Wynn-Sands gained Cheltenham's only set with a win over Roy Fowler and took McRandal to five. Milan Dragojlovic also played well to take Wood to five.

Division Two
Saracens D Win Close Battle
Saracens D earned a good 6-4 win in a titanic battle with Cheltenham F in division two. Mark Nally was the pick of their players, claiming a maximum. Tony Iles chipped in with a brace and Neil Penny contributed one win. Matt Mulcahy was in great form for Cheltenham F, winning two and only losing to Nally in the fifth set after a very close match. He then combined with Alan Harvey to comfortably take the doubles.

Saracens B raced to a 9-1 victory over bottom-placed Tirley Tigers, although this score line clearly belies the closeness of some of the sets. Ross Greening and Mike Dodwell earned maximums for Saracens B, although they were both pushed hard. Greening edged out Elaine Evans 12-10 in the fifth set, and Dodwell was made to work hard for his points by Evans and colleague Elaine Marshall. Tirley’s solitary point came from Evans’s good win over Terry Sims.

CCS A and Smiths D played out an entertaining draw. Chris Ball was the outstanding player on the night, winning all three of his games and overcoming both Steve Murton and David Hart in 5-set encounters. Hart and Murton were convincing winners against Dave Mackman and Julie Taylor to claim a brace each for CCS A. The match rested on the result of the doubles, with CCS A being 5-4 down and having to win to claim a draw. After taking an early two-set advantage, CCS A were pegged back to 2-2 by Ball and Taylor, but Hart and Murton finally cruised home 11-2 in the fifth set to earn a draw.

Division Three
Eagles Shot Down By Tewkesbury
James Bird led Cheltenham J to a 7-3 victory over Cheltenham L, securing his first maximum in the process. Tom Morrison and Ben Meikle fought hard in the doubles  for the L side, but lost out in five games to Andy Smith and John Terry.

Winchcombe Eagle’s unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Tewkesbury B, for whom Tom Urbanski was in top form. His maximum was crucial in securing the 7-3 victory in a match where most of the sets were closely contested.

Cheltenham K secured a useful draw against Tewkesbury C who could only field two players. Roger Tyrell won all three for Tewkesbury, while Cheltenham’s Michael Brook did well to overcome Gill Smith.
