Division One
James Dominates For Cheltenham B
Lakeside 'A' played Cheltenham 'B' in a match that saw the spoils shared in a draw where no player remained unbeaten. Dominic James, a twelve year old junior for CTTC 'B' had two excellent wins in five games over Roy 'Foxy' Fowler and Rich Moores, but was unable to overcome Suzy Robinson to help his weakened side force a draw. Newcomer Nick Smale also played well to beat Suzy and Rich. Dominic then combined with Nick in the doubles for another good win over Rich and Pete Wood.

Cheltenham 'A' played a weakened Cirencester 'B' who turned up with just two players, which included the first appearance of the season for Dan Kolesnik. Kolesnik was the only player to provide any resistance against the strength of last seasons champions. Dan Kolesnik took the only point of the evening with a straight forward win over Chris Hewitt, but was unable to overcome Dave Harvey and his eldest son Mike, losing to both in four games.

Cirencester 'B' played Chelsea Building Society in a match that saw the second win of the season for the Chelsea. Guy Greening of the Chelsea, finally free of injury, won a good maximum and was well supported by his team mates, Simon Moysey, who was in excellent form and won two and Dave Metcalfe with one.  Cirencester's Peter Galea was a little too awkward and unconventional for Simon and Dave. Cirencester's Will Silto will also be someone to watch later in the season because although he lost two, they were both excellent games where he ran into two players that had found some good form.

Division Two
Wizards Magic At Lakeside
Cheltenham C eased to an 8-2 win over club counterparts Cheltenham D. Maximums for Dave Green and Christine Williams, and a brace from Nick Scott assured victory. Cheltenham D picked up their points by Scott being defeated by Matt Mulcahy and a good win in the doubles.

Winchcombe Warriors earned a 6-4 win over Lakeside C in a close contest. Richard Bishop was again the pick of the players, claiming a relatively straightforward maximum. Graham Fisher also won twice for the Warriors. However, Lakeside C did not concede defeat without a fight as Barrie Pope won twice and Graham Chandler and Chris White both won one apiece. The deciding doubles was claimed by the combination of Bishop and Fisher for the Warriors in four sets.

Winchcombe Wizards claimed a comprehensive 7-3 victory over Lakeside B in one of the eagerly awaited clashes of the season so far. Nick Davidson was in awesome form, winning all three of his matches in straight sets. Stewart Ratcliffe picked up two wins and Chris Lane chipped in with one. Andy East, Andy Richards and Ken Smith all won once each for Lakeside B. The closest match of the evening saw East pip Lane 12-0 in the fifth set in an exciting singles encounter. Davidson and Lane then raced to an easy straight sets doubles win over East and Richards.

E Men Win Big In Derby
Civil Service B gained valuable points at the expense of Cheltenham F in a 9-1 win. With Geoff Wilson and Jeremy Turberville gaining maximums, it was left to Andy Sutherland to salvage Cheltenham’s single victory.

Cleeve Eagles were unable to put a dent in Tirley’s championship prospects, as they went down 3-7. Whilst each of the Eagle’s players won one set each, it was Elaine Evans who starred for Tirley, winning all three of her matches. Her tussle against Tiffany Hopton produced a clash of two attacking left handers, with Elaine triumphing 11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7.

With his first appearance of the season, Martin Kirby made an immediate impact for Old Saracens, leading the way with three wins against Cheltenham G in an 8-2 victory. The Cheltenham side’s resistance came from Simon James, who overcame Sheila Matthews and Tony Child, both in four games.

Cheltenham E proved to be too strong for Cheltenham H, winning by a 10-0 margin, although John Terry needed five games to overcome Rob Starling.
