Saracens Dispel Wizards
Winchcombe
Warriors played Winchcombe
Cavaliers this week in a match that was always going to be
difficult for the Warriors, who are struggling at the bottom of the table. Both
the young Luke Moffatt and the ageing Grahame Brown of the Cavaliers were
largely untroubled in winning all of their games comfortably. Craig Norledge
supported his team colleagues with two wins over Jan De Wet and Richard Bishop,
but was unable to overcome Mike Vick who won a close deciding game for the
Warriors only point of the evening.
Saracens A entertained Winchcombe Wizards in a closely fought match that saw the Saracens come away with a narrow victory. Alan Smith of the Saracens was once again in top form winning all of his games comfortably. Choi Sze To offered the best resistance from the Wizards winning two of her games against Pete Wood and Bob Trimble and was supported by her team mate Nick Davidson who chipped in with one win who then combined with Choi to win the doubles.
Cirencester played the Winchcombe Warriors in a one sided match that saw another heavy defeat for the Warriors losing by 10-0. Mike Kiff who is finding life tough going in the top echelons of the Cheltenham League obtained his first maximum win of the season and was well supported by his team mates Howard Williams and Dave Adamson who also enjoyed fairly comfortable maximum wins. Mike Vick of the Warriors did well to take a game off Howard Williams as did Richard Bishop to take a game off Dave Adamson, but neither were able to capitalise.
Note from the Division One Secretary: Cirencester versus Wizards - I am fairly sure this was cancelled and needs to be re-arranged. If this is not the case, then I have not received the scorecard

E's Too Good For
Leaders
Cheltenham E stunned league leaders
Tewkesbury B by inflicting their first defeat of the season on them.
The promising Dominic James led the way, winning all of his sets, and was well
supported by Karl Foster and Carey Maisey. Tewkesbury gained some consolation by
winning the doubles.
Improving Cheltenham G secured their first win of the season, this being against Cheltenham F, who could only raise two players. There were a number of very long sets, Zac France being involved in two. He beat Ryan Godwin 13-11 in the fifth, but lost out in a marathon to Jonathan Laramy 11-7, 9-11, 5-11,20-18 11-13.
A further tight match for Cheltenham G resulted in a 5-5- draw with Tewkesbury C. All six players secured at least one win each, but the steady play of Cheltenham’s Emma Mollison was the star performance, and earned her a maximum.
Winchcombe Eagles and Cheltenham F met twice on successive nights, Eagles triumphing 10-0 and 9-1. In the first fixture, the feature match was the clash of left-handers Tiffany Hopton and Andy Sutherland, in which both players produced a succession of ferocious forehand winners. In the second meeting Eagles were made to work very hard for their victory. Zac France only just lost 14-16 in the fifth to Dan Crook, whilst Andy took both Tiffany and Derek Brown to five games. Matt Roberts gained Cheltenham’s point in defeating Dan.
