Cheltenham B Win Under Strength Leaders
Smiths B
avenged an earlier season defeat, and gained their first success of the season
with a 7-3 win against their C team colleagues. Andy East,
Andy Richards and Ken Smith all won two each, but all of them lost
to an in form Craig Hayward who scored an impressive maximum for the
C side.
Smiths A only turned out two men against Cheltenham B and paid the penalty. Milan Dragojlovic and Dominic Wynn-Sands seized their chance, both beating Matt Hartwell and Doug Payne to secure their 7-3 win.
Three wins from Dave Harvey gave Cheltenham A hopes of a win. But Saracens A players had other ideas as Natasha Hurd, Tony Stead and Bob Trimble all won two each to give them a 6-4 win.
Harry Shahlaei turned up the heat against a two man Cirencester, beating both Dave Adamson and Dave Kolesmik to help his side to a 6-4 win. Kolesmik was Cirencester's best player with two wins against Jon Atkinson and Lawrence Shahlaei.

Kirby Is Knockout But Sara's Still Win
Cheltenham D kept up the pressure at the top of the table this
week with two good wins. In a tight match with Winchcombe Warriors,
they scraped to a 6-4 victory. They were without top player John Gaskell,
and this was taken full advantage of by Richard Bishop, whose supreme
performance enabled him to claim a maximum for the Warriors.
Alan Harvey, playing up from the F team, performed
excellently to take a brace, whilst team colleague Mike Fry did the
same for Cheltenham. Dave Green won once for
Cheltenham, although he was unlucky to go down 12-10 to Bishop
in the fifth game. Dave MacIntosh picked up an excellent win over
Green for the Warriors. Green and Fry
combined well to take the deciding doubles in a close encounter.
In a commanding performance later in the week, Cheltenham D thrashed Cheltenham F 10-0. This was not the best way of saying thank you to Alan Harvey for his two good wins playing up earlier in the week! Fry, Gaskell and Green all claimed maximums for Cheltenham D. Matt Mulcahy pushed Green to five games and Harvey was unfortunate to lose in five against Fry as Cheltenham F ultimately proved unsuccessful in earning any points from this match.
Tewkesbury A worked hard to complete a good 7-3 win over Smiths D. Rob Amphlett was in excellent form, winning all three games. John Goodchild performed excellently; picking up a brace of wins including his first ever win against Julie Taylor. Taylor will feel hard done by going down 10-12, 9-11, 11-9, 11-3, 18-16. Taylor, Mike Gleeson and Dave Mackman all won once for Smiths while Mike Tyrrell picked up an excellent four game victory over Gleeson for Tewkesbury. Amphlett and Goodchild were far too strong in the doubles and their straight sets victory completed the win.
Cheltenham E completed a good 6-4 win over Saracens C thanks to a good all-round team performance. Martin Cosnette was the star of the show however, completing a hard-earned maximum for Saracens. Yet braces for Andy Dyke and Christine Williams and a super five-set win for Siben Li over Dave Foulser put Cheltenham in charge. Dyke and Williams condemned the Cosnette brothers to defeat in the doubles to complete the victory.
Saracens D were convincing 8-2 winners against Tirley Tigers, despite an outstanding performance by Janie Kirby. Kirby picked up two terrific wins, beating Tony Iles in four games and Neil Penny in five, albeit 17-15 in the fifth. However, the returning Pete Humble and Lesley Dewick were unable to add any more wins, allowing Iles and Penny to win two apiece. Mark Nally was in imperious form and he was rarely troubled on his way to a comfortable maximum.
Winchcombe Warriors suffered their second defeat in a week at the hands of one of the top two teams. Club counterparts Winchcombe Wizards put them to the sword with a 9-1 win. Nick Davidson and Keith Ferguson were unbeaten for the Wizards, whilst Jacqui Carver picked up two wins. Mike Vick claimed the Warriors only point of the evening, battling to a four-set victory over Carver.
Saracens B claimed yet another win, overcoming CCS A 7-3. Mike Dodwell contributed a maximum in which he was rarely troubled. Terry Sims and Ross Greening won twice each for Saracens; whilst Dave Hart defeated them both for CCS A in straight sets. Hart teamed up with Jon Nixon to earn a convincing win in the doubles over Dodwell and Sims.

Good Win For Tewkesbury
Tewkesbury B
tightened their grip on one of the promotion places with a 7-3 victory over
close rivals Winchcombe Eagles. There were a number of tight
sets but Tom Urbanski led the way for Tewkesbury with a
maximum.
Saracens E stayed very much in the hunt for the title with a 10-0 win over Cheltenham L.
Chris Foster led the way for Cheltenham G to triumph 8-2 over Cheltenham K, winning all three of his sets. He was well supported by Karl Foster and Sean Whitelow who won two each. They encountered resistance from Carey Maisey who won two for the K side.
Cheltenham J did well to hold Civil Service B to a 5-5- draw, with James Bird winning all of his sets. Civil Service edged through in a long doubles to earn their share of the points.
