Saracens A bounce Back With Convincing Win
After a run of
four defeats, Saracens A bounced back with a big win against
Cheltenham A. Both Brian McRandle and Roy Fowler were
unbeaten, and Pete Wood chipped in with two as they cruised to a 9-1 win.
Both Dave Harvey and Bill Dawe were absent from the clash between Saracens B and Chelsea B.S., where Saracens took the doubles in five to secure a 6-4 win. Guy Greening won all his singles for Chelsea and Michael Harvey and Judy Morley won two each for Saracens.
Smiths A extended their lead at the top with a 10-0 thrashing of bottom team Winchcombe Wizards. Mark Bilsborrow, Matt Hartwell and Nick Mytton all scored maximums.
In a re-arranged game, Cirencester beat Winchcombe Wizards 8-2 with maximums from Dave Adamson and Rob Willsher. Nick Davidson had a good win for the Wizards over Tony Clarkson.
Cirencester continued their good form with a 10-0 whitewash over Winchcombe Cavaliers. Rob Willsher, Gordon Shaw and Dave Lloyd all remained unbeaten.

Sims Win Secures Sara's Victory
Saracens D
recorded a very good win over Cheltenham C by 8 sets to 2. For
the Saracens Terry Sims had a good match and recorded a
maximum, whilst Ross Greening and Mike Dodwell both won 2 sets
apiece. There were very close games between both sides, but Milan
Dragojlovic was the most successful for Cheltenham C by
winning 2 sets, but Saracens kept the momentum up for the doubles
and edged out the Pawsey brothers to increase the victory margin.
Smiths B were made to fight for
their 6-4 victory over Winchcombe Warriors. Smiths
maintained their victory run with two wins from both Andy East and
Andy Richards and one win from Ken Smith. The Warriors
fought back with Neil Lawrie winning 2 sets, also Rob Lane managed
2 wins, which left the doubles for a possible draw. The Smiths
pairing of Andy East and Andy Richards had a victory in their
sights and their experience proved to be the difference despite the pairing of
Ray Griffiths and Rob Lane's greatest efforts, Smiths
were not to be denied victory.

Too Much Turkey For Tewkesbury?
Cheltenham D
were comfortable in their 7-3 defeat of Saracens F . Alan
Harvey led the way with a convincing maximum, and he was well supported by
Andy Dyke, who won two, and Richard Gummow, who picked up a single
victory. Gummow was unfortunate in a tight five-setter with Pete
McGeough, going down 13-11 in the fifth. McGeough was Saracens'
best player.
CCS A cruised to an 8-2 win over a rather lacklustre
Tewkesbury A. John Downey claimed a comfortable maximum, in only
his third match of the season, and he was well supported by Steve Murton
and Jeremy Turberville who claimed braces.
Saracens E claimed a 7-3 victory against battling Winchcombe
CCC. Tony Iles gained yet another maximum and he didn't drop a
set. Neil Penny and Mike Barwick picked up braces to support him.
This was a truly topsy-turvy match. Penny went down to John Teare,
returning after injury, in an extremely tight encounter 6-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9,
9-11. Tony Dalby won his first game of the season in dispatching Mike
Barwick, who in turn, defeated Teare and Dick Prior
comfortably. Prior and Teare then combined to sensationally defeat
the combination of Iles and Penny.
Tirley Tigers proved to be too strong for CCS B and
ran out 7-3 winners. Elaine Marshall, again returning from injury, and
Pete Humble claimed comfortable maximums. Geoff Foster, Rob
Browning and Alan Thomas all won one game each for CCS B.

Braynestorm Fails To Halt The Eagles
Tewkesbury C's John Brayne had to work hard against Winchcombe
Eagles to achieve his customary weekly maximum, but two wins each for
Adam Andrews, Mick Holder and Derek Brown plus the doubles
gave Winchcombe Eagles a 7-3 win.
Winchcombe Panthers were in no mood to lie down in their derby match with Winchcombe Eagles. Their inspiration was Gary Cull who pipped Derek Brown 15-13 in the fifth, and narrowly lost out to Tiffany Hopton, also in the fifth. Tom Morrison did well to take a game off Tiffany, but the Eagles ran out 9-1 winners.
Alison Lockley maintained her good form with a maximum in Tewkesbury B’s 8-2 defeat of Cheltenham G for whom George Deacon played well to beat Tom Urbanski and Roger Tyrell.
The top of the table clash between Tewkesbury B and Winchcombe Eagles was a closely fought affair, and for both sides it was the ladies who took the honours, in a match where seven of the sets went to five games. For Tewkesbury, Alison Lockley recorded narrow wins over Mick Holder and Derek Brown, and it took all of Tiffany Hopton’s experience to overcome Alison and snatch the only maximum. Wayne Lippett and Tom Urbanski secured a win each for Tewkesbury, but Derek Brown and Mick Holder did likewise for the Eagles. Wayne and Alison beat Tiffany and Mick in the doubles to produce a draw. This leaves Tewkesbury unbeaten, but the Eagles have the better points total.
Another three wins for John Brayne as Tewkesbury C pipped Cheltenham E 6-4, but it was the Cheltenham side which won the doubles.
