Division One
Harvey Halts Griffin's 100%
Cheltenham 'A' played Cirencester 'B' in a match where both teams fielded their strongest sides and CTTC came away with a narrow 6-4 victory thanks to an excellent maximum from Dave Harvey, who took Darren Griffin's 100% record. Dave was supported by eldest son Mike and Chris Hewitt, who each chipped in with a win each over Barry Turner. But despite some very close games they were unable to overcome the strength of Cirencester's Dan Kolesnik and Darren Griffin.

Cirencester 'A' played a depleted Winchcombe Cavaliers who were only able to field a weakened and short team, but thanks go to Keith Ferguson for stepping up and allowing the match to proceed. As a consequence, the Cavaliers came away with three points thanks to a maximum from Choi Sze To, but Keith certainly tested the strong Cirencester side of Mike Kiff, Rob Willsher and Howard Williams with some very closely contested games.

Winchcombe Cavaliers played Cirencester 'B' where strangely every single game was won three straight except for the doubles. Cirencester, represented by Barry Turner, Darren Griffin and Keith Howse, came away with four points thanks to an easy maximum from Darren Griffin who then combined with Barry Turner to take the doubles. The Cavaliers points was a team affair with Tristan Gretton, Craig Norledge and Choi Sze To all winning two games each over Barry Turner and Keith Howse, but unable to overcome the powerful Darren Griffin.

Lakeside 'A' played Cheltenham 'B' in a fantastic match where virtually every game went the distance and one that the Lakesiders perhaps could have probably won. The Lakesiders were undone by Dominic James, who is one of the best Junior prospects that has been seen for a while, hitting well on both wings. He plays the big points fearlessly and came back from two games down twice to win in five and win an excellent maximum. Dominic was supported by Russell Hayward who won two and Simon Pratten who chipped in with one. The Lakesiders points were won by Suzy Robinson who won two, only losing out to Dominic and Pete wood with a win over Simon Pratten. Unfortunately due to the excellent match and very close games, time ran out and the Lakesider's had to forfeit the doubles.

Winchcombe Cavaliers played Cheltenham 'A' in a match where the Cavaliers represented by Craig Norledge, Choi Sze To and Sturart encountered the full strength of the Harvey family. Choi Sze To enjoyed revenge for losses earlier in the season with wins over the Harvey boys for the Cavaliers only points of the evening, but she was unable to overcome old man Harvey who enjoyed his own revenge over Choi with a straight forward and very comfortable win that helped his side win 8-2.

Division Two
Saracens Hit Green Patch With Impressive Win
Cleeve Saracens A secured a hugely impressive 7-3 away win over high-flying Cheltenham C. An outstanding maximum from Ross Greening, a brace for Dennis Wadley and one win for Mike Dodwell assured victory. In an astonishing performance, an on-fire Greening comfortably defeated three players ranked higher, and some significantly higher, than him in the divisional averages. He stunned Anand Keshav, winning 11-7, 12-10, 11-9 and defeated Dave Green in straight sets and Martin Smith in four. Keshav won twice for Cheltenham and Smith chipped in with one win. To complete this outstanding win, Dodwell and Wadley took the doubles in straight sets. This possibly could go down as one of the most impressive results of the season!

Cleeve Saracens A lost convincingly to Winchcombe Wizards by an 8-2 scoreline but were not disgraced. With six of the matches being won in the fifth set, it gives an indication of how closely contested the match was. Nick Davidson was in good form winning his maximum and was ably assisted by Jacqui Carver and Stewart Ratcliffe who both bagged a brace. Mike Dodwell gained a little respectability for Cleeve Saracens A with two hard fought wins but along with Dennis Wadley, could not prise the doubles away from the Davidson/Ratcliffe combination, losing out 11-7 in the deciding set.

Cheltenham C claimed a hard fought 6-4 win over Lakeside D. However, it was Lakeside D’s Chris Ball who was the performer of the night, claiming a superb maximum, including a four-set win over high flying Anand Keshav and two tight five-set wins over Dave Green (11-3, 7-11, 11-4, 9-11, 12-10) and Martin Smith (11-7, 10-12, 12-10, 7-11, 11-9). The doubles was also a tight affair, with Lakeside D picking up another useful point, as Trevor Oliver and Julie Taylor defeated the combination of Green and Smith in five tight sets.

Lakeside B overcame CCS A by a scoreline of 6-4. However, it was Dave Hart of CCS A who was in sparkling form, claiming an easy maximum. Graham Chandler, Andy East and Ken Smith all won twice each for Lakeside B, but Hart and Jon Nixon were impressive winners over East and Smith in the doubles.

Cheltenham D claimed a much-needed 7-3 win over two-man Winchcombe Warriors. Mike Vick won all three of his games for the Warriors, whilst Richard Gummow, Alan Harvey and Matt Mulcahy all won once for Cheltenham D. Gummow and Mulcahy won the doubles in straight sets.

Lakeside D scored a pleasing 6-4 win over Tewkesbury A. Braces for Chris Ball and Trevor Oliver and one win for Julie Taylor set them on their way. Rob Amphlett claimed an imperious maximum for Tewkesbury and Alan Cook chipped in with one win, and was unfortunate not to take another. Ball and Oliver edged a tight doubles contest, condemning Amphlett and Cook to defeat.

Winchcombe Warriors overcame understrength Lakeside D by a scoreline of 6-4. A maximum for Graham Fisher set them up for victory. Trevor Oliver won twice for Lakeside D and Julie Taylor chipped in with one win. Oliver and Taylor were convincing straight sets winners in the doubles.

Cheltenham C hammered basement team Tewkesbury A 10-0. Maximums for Anand Keshav, Dave Green and Martin Smith were collected as they proved to be just too hot to handle on the night. In the only five-set encounter, Dave Green had to come back from 2-1 down to defeat John Teare.

Cleeve Saracens A overcame Cleeve Saracens B 7-3, thanks to a maximum from Den Wadley, a brace from Ross Greening, one win from Terry Sims and a straight sets doubles victory. For Cleeve Saracens B, Dave Foulser claimed his first ever win over Sims, whilst Neil Penny was unlucky to lose to Wadley 11-9 in the fifth having been 2-1 up.

Lakeside C were impressive 9-1 winners over Cleeve Saracens B. Maximums for Graham Chandler and Chris White, and a brace from Barrie Pope did the damage. However, it was an extremely closely fought game. After a month out with a back injury, Dave Foulser returned to action bent on all out attack so as not to get involved in long rallies causing him to stretch. The tactic looked hopeless as he suffered a bad straight sets defeat to Chandler. However, Foulser then defeated Pope for the first time in eight years and nearly beat White for the first time ever, losing 11-13 in the fifth game. Tony Iles lost two five-setters to Pope and White, whilst Chandler had to come back from 2-0 down to defeat Jim Tyrrell. Cleeve Saracens B can consider themselves a little unfortunate with this result.

Division Three
Turbo-charged Servicemen's Big Win
Jeremy Turberville led Civil Service B to an 8-2 win over Cheltenham F, the closest encounter being that between Geoff Wilson of Civil Service and Tom Parry, with Geoff triumphing 13-11 in the final game.

Old Saracens suffered a rare defeat against Cheltenham G, but were up against it with only two players. Jon Laramy won twice for the Cheltenham side, supported by Ryan Godwin who won one. Ryan teamed up with Dan Smith to win the doubles.

Cleeve Eagles were another side who were one player short, and despite some valiant resistance, were unable to prevent a strong Tirley Tigers side from completing a whitewash.
