Division One
Understrength Saracens B lose heavily to division leaders
With Dave Harvey injured and only two players available, Saracens B went down to their heaviest defeat of the season. Smiths A hammered them 10-0 with Nick Mytton, Doug Payne and Dave White all unbeaten. This win puts Smiths seventeen points clear at the top of the table.

Cirencester moved themselves up to second spot in Division One with a 9-1 win over Cheltenham A. Both Dave Adamson and Tony Clarkson were unbeaten, and John Atkinson gained Cheltenham's consolation set with a win over Rob Willsher.

Roy Fowler, Suzie Robinson and Pete Wood all had maximums as Saracens A beat bottom club Winchcombe Wizards 10-0. The Wizards fought hard and there were some close sets, all of which were taken by Saracens.

Winchcombe Cavaliers could only field a two man side, but still managed to take three sets off Chelsea Building Society. Guy Bridgewater and Stewart Greene won one set each plus the doubles, but they had no answer to Bill Dawes power play as Chelsea ran out 7-3 winners.

Division Two
Smiths B march on at the top
Smiths D were beaten quite heavily by Saracens D according to the scoreline, but the individual performances did not reflect the 8 sets to 2 defeat. For Saracens, Dennis Wadley and Mike Dodwell both scored maximums, with Ross Greening helping with another set victory. Whilst for Smiths Dave Mackman and Julie Taylor each scored one set, although all of the Smiths team with good fortune could have fared better. Dave Mackman and Julie Taylor teamed up to try to improve the scoreline in the doubles, but the combination of Dennis Wadley and Mike Dodwell just edged the win in the fifth game to create the 8 sets to 2 final result.

Cheltenham C were unable to prevent Smiths B from keeping their unbeaten win record as they lost an 8 sets to 2 defeat. Dave Dawkins was the most successful of the Smiths team in winning a maximum, but was ably assisted with 2 set wins for both Ken Smith and Andy Richards. The only success for the Cheltenham Club came from Milan Dragojlovic who won 2 sets and then teamed up with Grant Pawsey in an effort to score another point for their team, but the combination of Andy Richards and Dave Dawkins proved too strong and just edged a win in the fifth game of the doubles to produce a conclusive 8-2 victory for Smiths B.

Winchcombe Warriors were in fine form when they hosted Smiths C and duly won by 7-3. For the Warriors both Mike Vick and Neil Lawrie gained maximums whilst for Smiths all three players came away winning 1 set apiece. Sensing that another point was up for grabs Mike Vick and Neil Lawrie teamed up against the combination of Chris White and Barrie Pope and secured the doubles victory that increased the win to a 7-3 triumph.

Division Three
Tigers Maul Saracens E
Tirley Tigers great run of form continued as they condemned Saracens E to their first defeat of the season. Pete Humble was in excellent form as he saw off Neil Penny and Tony Iles in five sets on his way to a terrific maximum. He was well supported by Elaine Evans who chipped in with a brace. Iles battled hard for Saracens picking up two wins, but he could not prevent Humble and Evans claiming an excellent doubles win, and therefore set up the 6-4 victory.

CCS A
fought to complete a 6-4 victory against a determined Winchcombe CCC. Steve Murton claimed yet another maximum, and he was rarely pushed in any of
his three games. Jeremy Turberville was a great support as he picked up a brace of wins, although he had to work hard for them. All three off his games went to five sets and they were tightly contested. John Teare was the pick of the players for Winchcombe by winning twice.

CCS B claimed a fine 5-5 draw with Saracens F, with each team member contributing. Rob Browning won two, convincingly against Sheila Matthews and less so against Roy North, and Alan Thomas and Geoff Wilson chipped in with one apiece. Wilson claimed a superb win against Pete McGeough and combined in the doubles with Browning to snatch a draw. McGeough and North both grabbed braces for Saracens.

Tewkesbury A returned to winning ways with a hard-earned 7-3 victory against Cheltenham D. Rob Amphlett continued his sensational form with three comfortable wins, whilst Mike Tyrrell picked up two. Andy Dyke was the pick of the Cheltenham players picking up two wins, including a convincing victory over Tyrrell. He was also involved in the two tightest games of the match, winning 18-16 in the fifth against John Goodchild in the singles, and having combined with Alan Harvey, losing 12-10 in the fifth in the doubles.

Division Four
Makepiece shoots down Eagles
A good team performance including maximums for Chris Foster and Sean Whitelow enabled Cheltenham H to overcome Cheltenham G 8-2.

It was however Jamie Makepiece of Cheltenham G who stole the show in their next match against Winchcombe Eagles, where he won all three of his sets, including the scalp of Tiffany Hopton. However, despite his efforts, Eagles ran out 7-3 winners to maintain their promotion push.

Cheltenham E recorded a useful 9-1 victory against their F side, for whom Matt Williams made his debut. For the E team, Chris Pallet and Richard Maint won all of their sets.

Cheltenham H tightened their grip on third spot with a 7-3 win over Tewkesbury C who are just below them. Chris Foster maintained his good form with a maximum, whilst Neil Cameron secured two for Tewkesbury.
