James Dominates Tewkesbury
Champions elect Tewkesbury B showed no mercy
to Winchcombe Eagles in a 9-1 win, in which
Alan Cook avenged a defeat earlier in the season in which he had succumbed to
Tiffany Hopton. Tiffany secured Eagle’s only point with a win over Alison
Lockley.
It was a different story when Tewkesbury came up against their nearest rivals, Cheltenham E, and it was the Cheltenham side who came out on top in a 6-4 win. Dominic James was in fine form, overcoming Alan Cook, Michael Maxwell and John Teare without conceding a game.
Cheltenham E followed this up with a 9-1 success over Civil Service B, who had Geoff Wilson to thank for their solitary point.
Saracens E struggled to tame an improving Cheltenham G side, but eventually came out on top 6-4. Sheila Matthews was Saracen’s mainstay, winning all three of her sets. Tony Child was involved in three five-game sets, but could win only one of them.
