Division One
A Cavalier Display For Winchcombe
Winchcombe Cavaliers (Chris Pearce, Craig Norledge, Duncan Arrandale) entertained Cheltenham 'B' (Nick Smale, Jon Gaskell, Simon Pratten) this week in a match where the Winchcombe's Chris Pearce was the star of the evening winning a comfortable maximum all in straight games in his sides 7-3 victory. Chris was supported by Craig who chipped in with two wins and Duncan who chipped in with one. Cheltenham's points were won by Nick Smale with two comfortable wins over Craig and Duncan, with Simon contributing a win over Duncan for their three points of the evening.

Winchcombe Royals (Nick Davidson, Keith Ferguson, Choi Sze To) played Winchcombe Roamers (Doug Payne, Matt Hartwell, Nick Mytton) in a match that resulted in narrow victory for the Royals thanks to a hatrick of wins by Choi Sze To, who was supported by Nick Davidson who chipped in with two wins that included an excellent fifth set win over Matt Hartwell. The Royals Nick and Choi then combined to win the doubles and secure the win, while unfortunately Keith appears not to have recovered from his recent holiday. The Roamers four points were won by Nick Mytton with two wins, supported by Doug and Matt who both chipped in with a win each over Keith.

Lakeside 'A' (Pete Wood, Rich Moores, Suzy Robinson) played Winchcombe Royals (Nick Davidson, Choi Sze To, Keith Ferguson) in a closely fought match where the spoils were shared with a surprising draw. This was a good team effort from the Lakesiders who all contributed towards the draw with Rich and Suzy winning two games each and Pete chipping in with a win over the Royal's Keith Ferguson. For the Royal's it was perhaps unsurprising that Choi Sze To saved the match in winning all of her sets in straight games, supported by Nick Davidson who had a win over Pete Wood.  The Royals then went on to win the doubles to secure the draw.

Cheltenham 'A' (Mike Harvey, Chris Hewitt, Dave Harvey) played Winchcombe Roamers (Nick Mytton, Matt Hartwell, Doug Payne) in a match where Cheltenham put out their big guns and completely outplayed the Roamers who suffered a whitewash defeat. Cheltenham's Dave and Chris were untroubled in their wins, whereas Mike was forced to work a little harder being taken quite close in all of his matches, in particular against Doug Payne who only lost narrowly in the fifth. Personally I think that Doug is playing really well this year, but I would say that because I lost to him earlier in the season.

Chelsea Building Society (David Metcalfe, Guy Greening, Simon Moysey) entertained Winchcombe Cavaliers (Rob Sinderberry, Chris Pearce, Craig Norledge) in a match that resulted in near whitewash for the Chelsea, saved only by a closely fought win by Guy over Rob in a closely fought fifth game. Although the Cavaliers Chris and Craig won a maximum, the star of the evening had to be Chelsea's reformed slim line Dave Metcalfe who was dreadfully unlucky in losing all of his games close in the deciding game. The Cavaliers Chris Pearce was completely outplayed by Metcalfe's defensive skills for most of the match, however Chris eventually worked it out and fought back to deuce in the fifth before winning the match on a net and an edge. Craig and Rob were equally bamboozled, but both managed to work it out and won in closely fought deciding games. Simon was completely outplayed by the Cavaliers as was Guy who was extremely fortunate in his win over Rob for the Chelsea's only point of the evening.

Division Two
Warriors Win Saracens Battle
Old Saracens finally picked up points against Lakeside C, courtesy of Judy Morley, but even Judy couldn’t outwit canny Graham Chandler who defeated her in 5 games on his way to a well-earned max.  In the battle of the Cheltenham college teams, the C team proved too strong for the D, with only Matt Mulcahy registering any wins for the D, including the doubles, but even he lost out to Mel Garlick who earned another max, although Matt pushed her to 5 sets in the process.

CCS A and Tirley Tigers were only able to field two players each, so perhaps it was fair that the game ended in a 5 all draw. Steve Murton won two singles for the servicemen.  Both Richard Bishop and Mike Vick of Winchcombe Warriors scored maximums against Saracens B, with only Tony Iles and Mark Nally getting on the score sheet for Saracens with one singles win each - both against Graham Fisher – plus a good performance to clinch the doubles.  Result of the week must go to Saracens A with an outstanding, and somewhat unexpected, 8-2 win against Winchcombe Legends.  Mike Dodwell just squeezed out Darrell Wiltshire in 5 sets to earn an excellent max, and both Ross Greening and Terry Sims supported him well with two each.  Chris Lane as ever fought manfully to record Legends only two wins, but Darrell Wiltshire will count himself unlucky not to have got himself on the score sheet, losing all his games in 5 close sets.

Division Three
Tewkesbury Topple Servicemen
Tewkesbury B have signalled their firm intention to make an immediate return to the second tier, as reflected in their match against Civil Service B, whom they swept aside. For Civil Service, Alan Thomas was the only player to extend the opposition to five games, losing ultimately 4-11 to Wayne Lippett, and 6-11 to John Teare.

James Bird and Carey Maisey led unbeaten Cheltenham E to a convincing win over, Winchcombe Vikings. Both players won all of their sets, with Carey dropping no games. Alan Gallop and Neil Hardie each gained one victory for Vikings, who just missed out in a five game doubles.
