Division One
100% Records Fall In Cheltenham Derby
Winchcombe Cavaliers played Winchcombe Roamers in a match that saw a narrow victory for the Cavaliers and the loss of Nick Mytton's one hundred percent record. Cavaliers player, Choi Sze To, was the star of this match winning all of her games, including a very straight forward win over Matt Hartwell. One does have to wonder here whether Matt had an alternative motive for this easy defeat? Choi was backed up by her team mate Tristan Gretton who won two games that included a good win over Nick Mytton. Choi and Tristan then combined to win the doubles and secure a narrow victory. The Roamers four points were secured by Matt Hartwell with two wins over Tristan Gretton and Darrell Wiltshire and Nick Mytton and Doug with one win each over Darrell Wiltshire.

Chelsea Building Society played Cirencester 'A' in a match that ended in a heavy defeat for the Chelsea, but gaining their most points so far in a match that saw the loss of two 100% records when both Guy Greening of the Chelsea and Gordon Shaw of Cirencester both won their first games of the season. Howard Williams of Cirencester was undefeated in this match, supported by Dave Adamson who won two and Gordon Shaw who chipped in with one. Howard then combined with Gordon to take a further unlikely point in the doubles and secure a fairly comprehensive win by seven games to three. Chelsea's points were won by Guy Greening with a win over Dave Adamson and Gordon Shaw, while Dominic Wynn-Sands also beat Gordon and was a little unlucky to only win one on the night after a good tussle with both Howard Williams and Dave Adamson.

Cheltenham Table Tennis Club 'A' played Cheltenham Table Tennis Club 'B' in a match that saw the loss of Milan (the Dragon) Dragojlovic, Dave Harvey and Chris Hewitt's 100% records. Milan (the Dragon) Dragojlovic secured the only two points for the 'B' side with two wins over Chris Hewitt and an excellent win over Dave Harvey taking both their 100% records. However, Milan soon found out that it is very difficult to beat two Harvey's in one evening and lost to Michael Harvey in a tense five setter. Neither Simon Pratten or Jon Gaskell were able to make much of an impression against the very strong 'A' side losing all of their games.

Cirencester 'B' suffered a heavy defeat against Winchcombe Roamers by eight games to two, the only two points being won by Graham Slack with wins over Doug Payne and Dave White, but losing to Nick Mytton. Cirencesters Alan Duke and Peter Galea were unable to overcome the strength of the Winchcombe players, although both were involved in some close tussles.

Tigers Humble G Men
Tirley Tigers continued their unbeaten run, overcoming Cheltenham G 8-2. Pete Humble was a comfortable winner of his three sets, supported by Len Agg and Janie Kirby who won two each. The main resistance came from Jon Laramy who beat Len and Janie.

A maximum for Jeremy Turberville of Civil Service B was not enough to offset a good team performance from Cheltenham E who won 6-4. Two wins each for John Terry, Carey Maisey and Andy Smith saw them home.

With one player short, Cleeve Eagles had to be content to share the spoils with Cheltenham F. Derek Brown won all of his sets for Eagles. Zac France won Cheltenham’s only singles, and he and Andy Sutherland grabbed the doubles.

Three wins each for Andy Smith and John Terry gave Cheltenham E a comfortable 9-1 win over Cheltenham F. For the E side, Andy Sutherland beat James Bird in five games.

Old Saracens were 10-0 winners against Cheltenham H. A number of sets went to four games, but Saracens were stronger overall.
