No favours in Smiths derby clash
Junior Milan
Dragojlovic stunned Cirencester with a magnificent maximum
against vastly more experienced opponents. However, his wins over Dave
Adamson, Dan Kolesmik and David Lloyd were all in vain as
Cheltenham B lost all their remaining matches in their 7-3 defeat.
A Dave Harvey maximum earned Cheltenham A a draw against their C team. His wins included a victory over top junior Harry Shahlaei in five. Harry recovered however to beat Michael and Robert Harvey, as did Jon Atkinson.
Smiths A continued their march towards the title with a 10-0 whitewash of their C side. Nick Mytton, Matt Hartwell and Dave White all played well to record maximums.
Even with only two men available, Chelsea Building Society still managed to end their losing streak with a 7-3 win against bottom club Smiths B. Bill Dawe, playing his first game for some time and Dave Metcalfe both remained unbeaten.

Division Two
Warriors Win Battle Against Saracens
Cheltenham F
completed a solid 7-3 victory over Tirley Tigers. Alan
Harvey claimed a maximum, and he was well supported by Matt Mulcahy,
who won twice. James Bird played up from Division Three for
Cheltenham, replacing the unavailable Richard Gummow, and he
picked up a creditable win over Janie Kirby. Len Agg was in
good form for Tirley, winning twice, but he wasn’t good enough
to overcome Harvey.
Winchcombe Wizards continued their dominance of the division with a convincing 7-3 win over Tewkesbury A. Stewart Ratcliffe was in fine form, winning all three of his games, including a good victory over Rob Amphlett. He was well supported by Nick Davidson, who claimed a brace. Amphlett won his other two games for Tewkesbury, whilst John Goodchild picked up a fine straight sets win over Jacqui Carver. Ratcliffe and Davidson combined well to take the doubles in four games.
Cheltenham D stormed to a 9-1 victory against club rivals Cheltenham E. John Gaskell and Dave Green claimed maximums, but Gaskell was pushed all the way by the unfortunate Andy Dyke, who played extremely well but took nothing away from the evening’s play. Mike Fry won twice for the D team, losing his side’s only point 13-11 in the fifth set of a titanic battle against Christine Williams.
Winchcombe Warriors completed a good 7-3 victory against Saracens D. Richard Bishop continued in his rich vein of form, winning all three for Winchcombe, and he was well supported by John Teare who won twice. Mark Nally was the pick of the Saracens players, winning twice, albeit 12-10 in the fifth set against Teare. Tony Iles picked up Saracens’ other point with a good win over Dick Prior. Bishop and Teare were too strong for Nally and Iles in the doubles.
CCS A claimed an important 7-3 win against struggling Saracens C. Dave Hart was the pick of the players, claiming an easy maximum. Phil King won twice for CCS A and Jeremy Turberville chipped in with one win. Dave Foulser was the pick of the Saracens players, and won twice despite being injured. Dave Cosnette picked up their other point with a good five-set win over Turberville. Cosnette battled well after being 2 games down and 10-3 down in the third match to win 12-10 and the remaining matches of the set.

Saracens Still On Eagles Tail
Top of the table
Saracens E were pushed all the way by Cheltenham G to
secure a narrow 6-4 win. Tony Child led the way for Saracens
with a maximum, but he only just got the better of Chris Foster by
winning 11-9 in the fifth game. For the Cheltenham side,
Karl Foster played well to beat Sheila Matthews 11-8 in the
fifth.
Saracens E moved a step nearer to securing the Division 3 championship by beating rivals Tewkesbury B 7-3. Pete McGeough and John Adcock did the damage with three wins each. Pete needed five games to overcome Pete Newdeck, as did John Adcock against Wayne Lippett. For Tewkesbury, Pete Newdeck and Tom Urbanski picked up one win each.
Tewkesbury B maintained their promotion push with a 9-1 win over Cheltenham G, whose only point came from Karl Foster who overcame Wayne Lippett. Tewkesbury’s Pete Newdeck had to work hard for his maximum, with two of his sets going to five games. With many close sets, this was viewed by Tewkesbury as their best fixture of the season to date.
Tewkesbury C dented the promotion hopes of Winchcombe Eagles with a 5-5- draw. Alan Cook was Tewkesbury’s star, winning all three of his sets.
Cheltenham J were only prevented from gaining a whitewash against Cheltenham K by the exploits of Michael Brook, who won two sets. James Bird led the way for Cheltenham J with a maximum.
Cheltenham G registered a straightforward 10-0 win against team mates Cheltenham H. Sean Whitelow, along with brothers Karl and Chris Foster all played well to gain maximums for the G men. Geoff Foster, along with Rob Browning and Geoff Wilson found little resistance as Civil Service B claimed a 10-0 whitewash over Cheltenham M.
