Cheltenham Table Tennis Club League
This page is dedicated to the divisions that are run by the Cheltenham Table Tennis Club
Div 1A is for some older juniors, except 9 year old Jacob Hayward, and senior players who have not played in the CTTA Senior league.
Div 1B is for Senior and 16+ Juniors who have started to play this season and who have not played in the CTTA Senior league.
Div 2 is for juniors under the age of 12.

A convincing win for the Zebras over Tigers, with a more consistent performance from Jacob Hayward. Panther’s Robert Starling continues to remain unbeaten, and Luke Greening recorded his first win for Panthers.

C & A repeated their win over Searchers, but Lyna Zhang so nearly beat Anna Muhlberg, only losing 9/11 in the 3rd game.
The Batmen repeated their draw with Hollies, and only a few points stopped Batmen winning two more sets as Robin Morgan lost very closely to Trevor Bevan and Nick Cousins.
Searchers and Shadows repeated their draw, and both are still without a win.

The Lions have taken a commanding lead, having won 4-0 against Tigers. Jake Critchley from Division 2 played up for James Hansen, who was unwell that evening, and won both his sets. Ben Sawers and Simon Parry had the longest and closest set so far, with Ben winning 12-10, 11-13 and 18-16.
The Lions had a draw with Panthers, due to Robert Starling’s good form, who won both his sets for Panthers. Tigers had a good 3-1 win over Bears. Simon James from Div 2 came in for the injured Simon Parry and won both his sets comfortably.
Zebras won 4-0 against the Bears , with both the young boys Reuben and Jacob unbeaten, although both struggled with Greg Hart- Brown, who lost close in the 3rd game to both.

The C & A ladies are well in the lead and Batmen have unmasked their first win. The Shadows and the Hollies are artists at drawing and the Searchers are still searching for a win.

Eagles have secured the title with a 4-0 win over Dolphins and a 3-1 win over Falcons. Against the Falcons, Doug was unlucky to lose 12-10 in the third against Alex Mansell. Simon James remains undefeated and did not lose a set. Doug James played a vital part in their success with 8 wins from 12.
Owls had a good win over Buzzards 3-1. Tom Warner lost easily to Max Benson-Bunch, but recovered later in the match to record a good win over Kim Benson-Bunch. Max beat Jack Greening to complete a very good maximum.
Sam Edwards showed improving form over the season and ended with a maximum in the 3-1 win over Buzzards.

The Eagles duo of Simon and Doug James remain unbeaten and are favourites to take the title. Simon is still to lose a set. They demolished Hawks 4-0 with Doug recording a great win over Jacob Critchley in three sets.
Falcons and Owls had an interesting match resulting in a 2-2 draw. 3 games went to three sets with Kim Benson-Bunch recording a maximum. Max Benson Bunch was unlucky to lose both his games right at the wire.
Penguins had a good 3-1 win over the Dolphins, with Sam Edwards showing some form and winning both his games. Hayden Burford chipped in with a win over Will Allenby to secure a victory.

Results for Division 2 matches played on December 11th/13th 2007
Eagles are flying high at the top of the table, having won all of their games. They beat the Penguins 3-1, with Sam Edwards win over Doug James giving Penguins their only point. Simon James had two comfortable wins for the Eagles, maintaining his 100% record, and no one as yet has managed to win a set against him.
Hawks beat Owls 3-1, with Jacob Critchley recording a maximum. However, he only just succeeded against Max Benson-Bunch 11/9 in the deciding set.
Falcons and Buzzards drew 2-2. Tom Warner won both games for the Buzzards. Alex Mansell and Ben Foster both beat Jack Greening for the Falcons 2 points.

The Eagles have got off to a flying start, and brothers Simon and Doug James look like the team to beat. Simon has won all his matches with ease with his clever use of spin.
Falcons recorded a 4-0 win over Dolphins. The individual scores suggest the game was far closer, with Sam Walsh unlucky to lose both his matches.
Hawks and Buzzards played out a draw, with Tom Warner winning both his matches, including the scalp of Jacob Critchley.
Owls beat Penguins 3-1. Kim Benson-Bunch recorded an easy maximum. Max Benson-Bunch played well to win one game by beating Sam Edwards. New kid on the block Hayden Burford beat Max , but had no answer to Kim’s experience.

Results for Division 1A matches played on November 29th and December 6th
The Lions have had a good start, as expected for two juniors who played in the Club league last season. The other players in this division, except Reuben Stone, are all rookies.
In the Lions match with Tigers, 2 of the 4 sets were only won close in the 3rd game, and against Panthers James Hansen only won in 3rd game against Luke Greening.
The closest set occurred in the Zebras/Bears match between 9 year old Jacob Hayward and 16 year old Greg Hart-Brown. 1st game 11/6 to Greg, 2nd game 12/10 to Jacob, and in 3rd game Greg hung on to win 16/14 .
Reuben Stone had two comfortable wins.
There is room for improvement, as there were too many playing errors, which competition brings out.
