Ryan Makepeace - A worthy winner of the Cheltenham Junior Player Of The Year Award

The Cheltenham Junior Player Of The Year award was presented to 11 year old Ryan Makepeace. The youngsters accomplishments this season included winning the Under 11's Boys Singles title, finishing runner up in the Under 13's Singles, and in the Junior Under 16 League Division One, he and his brother Jamie together with Abid Hussain were the winners. He played in one match in Division Four of the Senior League and won all 3 sets. Ryan was selected to play for Cheltenham B in the National Cadet League Division 2 and achieved a remarkable average of winning 17 out of 18 games!

He played a major part in the team becoming runners up to the Gloucester 1st team, as he won his two sets. He was 4-8 down in the 5th and final set, but recovered to win 12-10. Despite his lack of height he chases every drive and is an aggressive defender, which is unusual in today's game. The award could not have gone to a more worthy player.
