CHELTENHAM JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 1 2005

The final match between the two top teams proved to be exciting and very close. The Wizards won by 3 sets to 1, and pipped the Eagles by 1 point. The St Benedict’s team was withdrawn as they could not field a team.

The 3 youngest players, Karl Foster, Matt Williams, and Ryan Makepeace all played well and all had high averages. The two girls, Emma Mollison and Emma Hiscoke  gave a good account of themselves.

Seven junior players from the Senior League Division 4 were allowed to play in this Division. With improved services and stronger attack, the other players who are 12-15 years old would be good enough to play in that Division.

The trophies were presented by Dave Foulser, CTTA Chairman.

CHELTENHAM JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 2A 2005
In the lead when the last match started, Red Falcons consolidated their lead and won by 3 clear points from Rangers.   This was the easiest to run of the 4 junior divisions, and was most enjoyable to watch. Red Falcons’ Jake Theophilus and Tom Wright were very consistent and were the best team, but there were some good performances from individuals.

Bradley Hiscoke was undefeated, Richard Weir only lost one, and Mike Teague and Andy Sutherland were impressive. The 4 girls were not put off having to play the boys, and with more confident and aggressive stroke play they will soon improve.

CHELTENHAM JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 2B 2005
This division started off with 8 teams, but were reduced to 5 when 2 of the teams were withdrawn as they failed to let me know they did not want to play, and 1 team was withdrawn as only 2 of the 5 players who agreed to play turned up.

Fortunately
Guy Stevens and Rob Menzies agreed to step in to fill the vacancies. The Bournside teams had an erratic attendance. Chosen Hill A was easily the best team, and their B team were second, but only 1 point ahead of Super of Vain.
