Welcome To Our League

Welcome to the Cheltenham Table Tennis Website. You will find that this site is one of the biggest and most informative table tennis websites in the South West.

Our league is one of the longest established in England, being founded in 1923. We are affiliated to the ETTA (English Table Tennis Association), the GTTA (Gloucestershire Table Tennis Association) and The Midlands League.

The CTTA has produced many top players, both past and present, who have represented the Town, County and England.

Our league currently comprises 28 teams who compete in three senior divisions of varying standards from the beginner to the hardy veteran. We run a very successful training camp which is one of the biggest in England that has been in action for quite a number of years now. Our aim is to encourage youngsters into the sport and to help existing players wishing to improve their game.

Training is run by the Cheltenham Table Tennis Club, which has achieved Premier Club status through the Sport England program. Over the past few years we have seen many new youngsters who have gone through intensive training, joined the league and are now well on their way to making their mark on the national scene. For more information on training please click the Clubs and Training button.

The success of our league would not be possible if it were not for the hard working individuals who voluntarily give up their free time to raise the profile of our sport. One such individual who has worked effortlessly behind the scenes for many years is Peter Cruwys, currently our junior coaching administrator, who has held the Chairman and Secretaries post in the past. He readily volunteers his knowledge and time to raise the profile of table tennis in the local area. It is little wonder that Pete was recently nominated for 'Local Sporting Hero' at the BBC Midlands Sports Personality Of The Year!

This website is a database of league results, player averages, local table tennis newspaper reports and stories, team and coaching information and the history of our Association.

Press coverage of the league appears in The Gloucestershire Echo and The Gloucester Citizen on Thursdays. You can also read the latest results and previous newspaper reports on this site by clicking on the left menu.

If you are interested in joining our league or in the training program, please do not hesitate to contact either myself, the secretary or any other Committee member, the details of which can be found in the Contact section.
